won races and shattered speed barriers when taking part in record-breaking
races. Explore their racing dynasty below.

1934

Mercedes-Benz’s first entry into motorsport was The Eifel race in 1934, in which the team immediately took its first victory.

1935

Rudolf Caracciola won the Grand Prix of Tripoli, the Eifel race and the French, Belgian, Swiss and Spanish Grands Prix en route to claiming the European Drivers’ Championship.

1936

Mercedes-Benz took another two victories in 1936 - the Grand Prix of Monaco and Tunis, which were both won by Rudolf Caracciola.

1937

In 1937, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the W125, which would dominate the season with its eight-cylinder engine.

1938

In Reims, Hermann Lang reached a top-speed of 283 km/h as he hurtled down the main straight in his W154. This was the first Mercedes-Benz racing car to have a five-speed gearbox.

1939

The last Silver Arrows car to race in 1939 was at the second Belgrade City Race on 3 September. Manfred von Brauchitsch finished second in his W154 behind Tazio Nuvolari.

1954

Fangio clinched the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship with victory at the Swiss Grand Prix in Bern-Bremgarten on 22 August.

1955

Mercedes-Benz continued to dominate Formula One by winning five of the seven races in 1955.

2010

The first race of the new Silver Arrows era took place at the season-opener in Bahrain on 14 March, 2010

2012

Starting from 12th on the grid, Michael Schumacher fought his way through the field at the European Grand Prix to claim a place on the podium.

2013

Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton achieved three wins, eight pole positions and nine podium finishes during the course of the season.

2014

Lewis dominated the race in Abu Dhabi, securing his second world title and his first with the Silver Arrows.

Lewis added another chapter to his success story by winning his third Formula One World Drivers’ Championship.

2016

Nico took second place in the season finale to secure his first Formula One World Drivers’ Championship in his eleventh season.
